Privacy and accessibility
What happens when you read a note
Outdoor Local has no reader accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no advertising pixels. Our fonts and images load from our own server along with the rest of each page. Our host handles standard request data to run the site, such as your IP address, the page you opened and your browser. Links out to parks, transit services or gear makers lead to sites with their own privacy practices, so check theirs too.
Built for reading on the move
Pages use descriptive headings and labeled navigation, which helps when you’re skimming a route note at a trailhead. Keyboard focus stays visible as you tab through a page. Images come with written descriptions. On a phone, a menu button opens the site menu, and your browser’s text zoom works when the print feels small.
